Hot wild berry winter punch (with or without alcohol)

Portionen / Serves: 4-5 servings
Zutaten / Ingredients
  • 500ml black currant juice
  • 500ml apple juice (or orange if you like)
  • 1 cinnamon quill
  • 2 pieces of star anise
  • 200g of frozen wild berries (I chose raspberries, black berries and red currants)
optional:
  • ½ Orange cut into slices
optional for all you booze lovers
  • 2-4cl Rum, Whisky, Amaretto...
  • 500ml red wine
Zubereitung / Instructions
  1. Take the frozen berries out and let them thaw while preparing the rest.
  2. Add the juice, cinnamon quill, star anise and orange slices to a pot.
  3. Warm it up on medium heat.
  4. As soon as the liquid is hot you can add the frozen berries and they'll warm up in no time.
  5. Be careful to not boil the punch, especially when you've added alcohol. You just want to warm it up nicely. Make sure to taste it now and then and adjust it to your liking e.g. by adding some sweetener or more cinnamon.
  6. Serve the hot punch in cups or tea glasses and add a spoon for the berries.
  7. If you like you can now add some spirits of your choice such as amaretto, rum or whisky. It's also possible to add red wine while still heating the punch up (don't forget not to boil it :)
